Gareth Smit, 23, sings and switches between playing acoustic piano, guitar and electric guitar. His songs straddle a variety of musical genres with a strong contemporary folk-pop feel. Gareth hails from Cape Town, South Africa. His lyrics touch on contemporary issues drawing on his studies in History and Philosophy and works as a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker.
Produced by Jonny Blundell and recorded by David Langemann, Aleppo is Gareth Smit’s debut EP. He has collaborated with respected Cape Town musicians Roger Bashew (bass), James van Minnen (drums/percussion), Gabrielle Demblon (backing vocals), and Jonny Blundell (additional guitars).
