About Jonny Blundell
Jonny Blundell is an Honours graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. He grew up in the musical Blundell family, and was already performing on stage from the age of ten.
He has played guitar as a professional session musician for years in South Africa and has played in many bands, including Fat City, Roger Lucey Band, Andrew Tracey Steel Band, and Keep the Change. He has had four songs on the 5FM top 20 and has performed in opening line-ups for international acts such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and Shawn Phillips.
As a music producer he has produced albums for many artists, including Robin Walsh, McCoy Mrubata, Gito Baloi, Red Earth and Rust, Native Young, Nick Turner, Vuyo Katsha, and Jenny Eaves. He has also produced live radio broadcasts on 5FM for many local and international acts including Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, Electric Light Orchestra, Beth Hart and Jackson Browne.
Musically he's done everything from writing documentary soundtracks, to musical direction for many live shows, to performing at the Woodstock '97 concert in the USA. He has facilitated numerous interactive drumming and percussion sessions with The Rhythm Workshop and written corporate songs for many companies including, Food Lovers Market, Engen, Shell, Rentokil Initial, Spur, Pick n Pay, Cadiz, and Total. He has managed the technical staging of various shows and events including, Good Food and Wine Show and the SA Cheese Festival and has also worked as a technical consultant for many events.
He currently works as a music producer and sound engineer in Cape Town and is still performing live with Masala, Fintry, Dax Butler, and the Nick Turner Trio.
